About us

Footloose & Fancy Food was started in 1997 at The Northern School of Dance.

As we were a new business we had no name.

We decided that the name should have a dance theme as we were at a dance school so we looked at the names of musical and dance films.

After dismissing Grease (although an obvious dance film choice it’s not a very appetising name for a café) we came up with the film Footloose, which led to the saying Footloose & Fancy Free which became Footloose & Fancy Food.

After developing the student café into a successful venture, we moved into outside catering, where we quickly developed a reputation for providing high quality business and private catering. Some of our past and present clients have included, The Highways Agency, HSBC, The Department of War & Pensions and Scottish Life.

In 2008 we started providing the catering for the foundation student refectory at The Leeds College of Art & Design.

July of this year saw us opening our latest venture our new Sandwich shop at 5 Sheepscar Street South.

The shop is a work in progress as we intend to extend the premises by knocking through to the vacant shop next door and opening a deli counter where there will be a wide variety of fresh & wonderful foods which will make us more than just a ‘sandwich shop’

So watch this space for news of the progress.
